DAIVA SANNIDHI - The Doctrine of the Divine Presence

Definition and nature of “daiva sannidhi”

Daiva Sannidhi (The Presence of God) is the conscious awareness and spiritual experience of being before the living God—a state where the human soul communes with the Creator in reverence, love, and surrender. It is a spiritual reality that transforms the heart and aligns it with the will of God.

The Scriptures reveal that God's presence is both universal and personal. He fills all creation (Psalm 139:7–10), yet He manifests Himself specially to those who seek Him in truth and holiness (Hebrews 11:6; Matthew 6:6).

To dwell in His presence is the highest privilege and calling of humanity. From Eden to Revelation, God's eternal purpose has been to dwell among His people (Exodus 25:8; Revelation 21:3).

"And without faith, it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him." — Hebrews 11:6

"But when you pray, go into your room, close the door, and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you." — Matthew 6:6

Prayer is more than words; it is the soul's intimate conversation with the Divine. Through prayer, we find strength in our weaknesses, hope in moments of despair, and peace amid life's storms. It is not merely about asking but about surrendering—aligning our hearts with God's will and trusting in His perfect plan. In prayer, we are both heard and healed, as we draw closer to the One who understands us completely. It serves as a bridge, connecting our finite lives with God's infinite love and wisdom, reminding us that we are never alone on our journey.

Prayer is a powerful practice open to all—regardless of your background, faith, or past. Whether you are lost in doubt, burdened by sin, or even tormented by inner turmoil, the steps of prayer offer a path to discovering the true nature of God and receiving His gift of salvation. No matter the state of your heart or mind—even if overwhelmed by disbelief or plagued by dark thoughts—if you commit to these steps with sincerity, you will find blessing and peace. This is a personal journey, one that must be undertaken individually, in the quiet of your own heart, where God sees and understands all.

CHAPTER 1 – Introduction - Entering The Precesnce Of God

1. What is Daiva Sannidhi?

  • Definition and meaning of Sannidhi (Presence, Nearness, Indwelling Fellowship).
  • Distinction between Omnipresence (God everywhere) and Manifest Presence (God personally revealed).
  • Biblical pattern: God walking with Adam, dwelling in the tabernacle, incarnate in Christ, indwelling by the Spirit.
  • Hebrews 11:6 and Matthew 6:6.

2. Why Seek His Presence?

  • Spiritual necessity of communion: man without God’s presence is spiritually lifeless.
  • Old Testament examples (Moses: “If Your Presence does not go with us, do not send us,” Exodus 33:15).
  • New Testament revelation (Christ in you, the hope of glory — Colossians 1:27).

3. How Do We Enter His Presence?

  • The pathway of prayer: faith → purity → surrender → worship.
  • The model given by Christ: secret prayer, single-hearted devotion, silent communion.

Chapter 2 – The Seven Steps of Prayer (The Way into Daiva Sannidhi)

Brief overview of the seven sacred steps as the spiritual ladder of ascent from the outer to the inner chamber of divine fellowship:

  • Concentration
  • Confession
  • Resolution
  • Submission
  • Petition
  • Commendation
  • Contemplation

Each step will be expanded into a complete doctrinal chapter below.

Chapter 3 – Step 1: Concentration — Focusing the Mind and Heart on God

1. Definition

Concentration is the gathering of scattered thoughts and fixing them upon Christ — the single eye of prayer. Without concentration, prayer becomes empty speech; with concentration, even silence becomes worship.

2. Scriptural Foundation

  • Matthew 6:6 — “Go into your room, close the door, and pray to your Father who is unseen.”
  • Matthew 18:20 — “Where two or three are gathered in My name, there am I in their midst.”

3. Practical Preparation

  • Find a quiet time and secluded place.
  • Close the door, kneel, and close your eyes.
  • Still the body, quiet the soul, and center the spirit.

4. The Threefold Focus

  • Forget evil things.
  • Forget even good things.
  • Forget things past and future.
  • Remember only Christ, the Living Presence.

5. The Mind’s Discipline

  • If distractions come, gently turn again to Christ.
  • Concentration is not supernatural ability, but spiritual practice.
  • The power to focus is a gift already given by God.

6. The Reward of Concentration

  • Inner peace and awareness of God’s nearness.
  • The mind becomes a sanctuary.
  • God begins to commune with the soul.

7. Praise

“O God, Father, I have found peace in Your presence. You are my Provider, my Protector, my Savior, my Healer — my everything. I worship You and thank You for Your blessings.

May this peace remain with me always, in prayer and in life.” Amen

Chapter 4 – Step 2: Confession — Cleansing the Heart before God

1. Theological Foundation

  • To enter the Holy Presence, one must be clean in spirit.
  • Holiness is not optional: “Without holiness, no one will see the Lord” (Hebrews 12:14).
  • Confession removes the veil between man and God.

2. Nature of Confession

  • Confession is acknowledging, repenting, and resolving.
  • Not regret for punishment, but grief for offending divine love.

3. Dimensions of Confession

  • Confess to God (1 John 1:9).
  • Examine through the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20).
  • Confess cruelty or indifference to creatures (Proverbs 12:10).
  • Confess sins of omission and commission (James 4:17; Romans 3:23).
  • Confess misuse of time, money, and opportunities (1 Corinthians 4:2).
  • Confess pride and attitudes (James 4:6; Colossians 3:8).
  • Confess with others, seeking reconciliation (Matthew 5:23–24).

4. Spiritual Cleansing

Confession is spiritual bathing — removing stains that darken the heart.

God promises, “I will forgive their iniquity and remember their sins no more” (Hebrews 8:12).

5. Praise

“O God, thank You for giving me the grace to confess. I trust in Your mercy and rejoice in Your forgiveness. As You have promised, You have covered all my sins.

May my sorrow be turned into joy in Your presence. Amen.”

Chapter 5 – Step 3: Resolution — Dedicating Ourselves to God’s Will

1. Meaning of Resolution

Resolution is the sacred vow to follow God fully, sustained by His grace. It is a commitment.

2. Scriptural Principle

1 Corinthians 10:12 — “Let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.”

Resolution without dependence on grace leads to pride; dependence without resolution leads to weakness.

3. Why Resolution Matters

  • It transforms confession into conduct.
  • It creates accountability before God.
  • It strengthens the will against temptation.

4. Types of Holy Resolutions

  • To cease doing evil.
  • To practice good daily.
  • To endure hardship with praise.
  • To study the Word and pray without ceasing.
  • To give faithfully and serve humbly.

5. Example of Peter

Peter fell because of doubt but rose by prayer. Even when the believer fails, faith restores him — “The righteous falls seven times and rises again” (Proverbs 24:16).

6. Prayer

“O God, seal my resolution by Your grace. Protect me from falling, strengthen me in temptation,

and guide me to live according to Your will. You are faithful and will provide a way of escape. Amen.”

Chapter 6 – Step 4: Submission — Total Surrender to God’s Will

1. Definition

Submission (Samarpana) is offering oneself wholly to God. It is saying, “Not my will, but Yours be done” (Luke 22:42).

2. Dimensions of Surrender

  • Surrendering soul, mind, body, possessions, desires, and service.
  • Acknowledging God’s ownership of all things.
  • Living as a steward, not a possessor.

3. Understanding God’s Will

  • God’s will is revealed in what is good (James 1:17).
  • God’s will is taught through Scripture (2 Timothy 3:16).
  • God’s will is discerned through prayer (Matthew 7:7).

4. The Attitude of Faith

Even in suffering, the surrendered heart says: “The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be His name” (Job 1:21).

5. Practical Surrender

  • Keep your possessions pure and maintained.
  • Treat all resources as holy trusts.
  • Glorify God through stewardship.

6. Praise

“O Father, I thank You for the grace of surrender. Teach me to walk in Your will, and may Your purpose be fulfilled through me. Amen.”

Chapter 7 – Step 5: Petition — Presenting Requests before God

1. Meaning

Petition is childlike asking — faith-filled dependence on God’s goodness.

2. Scriptural Basis

  • Philippians 4:6 — “In everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving…”
  • 1 John 5:14 — “If we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.”

3. Rules of Petition

  • Approach with confidence (Hebrews 4:16).
  • Align with God’s will.
  • Trust His timing (Romans 8:28).
  • Pray with faith (Mark 11:24).
  • Combine with thanksgiving (1 Thessalonians 5:18).
  • Persevere without ceasing (Luke 18:1).

4. Areas of Prayer

For Self: forgiveness, holiness, faith, provision, peace.

For others: church, nation, sick, poor, leaders, evangelism.

5. Model Prayer

“Heavenly Father, I come in trust and love. Grant me wisdom, strength, and peace. Let Your will be done in my life and in all I ask. Thank You for hearing me, in Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Chapter 8 – Step 6: Commendation — Praising and Thanking God

1. Nature of Praise

Praise is not flattery; it is recognition of truth — declaring who God is. True worship rises from knowledge, not emotion.

2. Meditation on Divine Attributes

  • Omnipotent
  • Omniscient
  • Omnipresent
  • Eternal
  • Immutable
  • Holy
  • Just
  • Loving
  • Merciful
  • Sovereign
  • Faithful
  • Wise
  • Creator
  • Personal
  • Transcendent & Immanent
  • Provider
  • Healer

3. Purpose of Praise

  • Praise transforms the worshipper.
  • Praise lifts the soul above self.
  • Praise is the foretaste of heaven.

Chapter 9 – Step 7: Contemplation — Resting in God’s Presence

1. Meaning

Contemplation is waiting upon God, dwelling at His feet. It is remaining before God, not asking, but receiving.

2. Scriptural Foundation

Psalm 46:10 — “Be still, and know that I am God.”

Psalm 16:11 — “In Your presence is fullness of joy.”

3. Practice

  • Wait in silence after prayer.
  • Record divine impressions.
  • Spend at least one hour daily seeking God’s face.
  • Over time, this becomes the soul’s natural habitation.

4. Praise

“O Father, my heart rejoices in Your nearness. In Your presence there is fullness of joy. Speak, Lord, for Your servant listens. Glory be to You forever. Amen.”
